Dental X-Rays

Whenever you go to visit the dentist, you will often need to have a full check up from them. They will examine all of your teeth and then they will probably take an x ray of your teeth as well. For those who have not ever had an x ray, it can be a bit nerve racking. It is good for you to know exactly what is going to take place before it ever happens to you.

X rays will pass through your mouth during when the doctor is trying to take the x ray. X Rays will be absorbed by the more dense portions of your mouth before the others. The more dense portions are like your teeth and bone which will show up as more of a lighter color on the picture. When you have tooth decay or infections in your mouth, this portion may look a little bit darker on the X ray.

X rays won't hurt you so there is nothing like that to worry about. They are just a basic picture of whatever part of the body that your doctor wants to see. If you have had any type of dental restoration that can also show up as a lighter color on the x ray.

Getting an X ray from your dentist can be a very helpful thing to have. There are many benefits to having this done on a regular basis. For instance, if you have regular x rays, it could possibly prevent infections in the bone, gum disease, or any abnormalities that might occur.
