Frequently Asked Questions
Wausau Dentist
Q: What do the abbreviations DDS and DMD stand for? Is there a difference?
A: DDS is an acronym for Doctor of Dental Surgery, while DMD stands for Doctor of Dental Medicine. There is no real difference between a DDS and DMD degree except in name. The DDS degree is most often awarded by dental schools, while the DMD degree is uncommon. The training, education, and requirements for both degrees are the same, however.
