Sedation Dentistry

Wausau Cosmetic Dentist

Dr. Kim and and his staff is committed to treating patients with comfort and ease in order to ensure that they have a memorable and positive experience. Although local anesthetics are usually sufficient for most patients, we understand that you may still have some anxiety about your visit. For this reason, Dr. Kim provides a variey of sedation methods. The sedation dentistry options that Dr. Kim offers are nitrous oxide sedation, and oral sedation. We have outlined these two procedures below:

Nitrous oxide sedation (i.e., laughing gas) is administered through a tube that is placed over your nose. As you breathe normally through the nose piece, the trained team will control the gauges to ensure that you get the perfect blend of nitrous oxide and oxygen. This will kill the pain, induce a euphoric feeling, give a tingling and warm sensation, and it will not leave you with any hangover side-effect. Most patients prefer this method because it is only in effect during the time that it is needed.

Oral sedation, as the name implies, is a pill that can be taken orally prior to your visit to our office. This method allows the patient to partially sedated by the time you arrive for your appointment. Once you are comfortably settled in, Dr. Kim and his staff will begin your procedure. Unlike I.V. sedation, you will not be unconscious at any point in the surgery, and instead, you will be responsive, thought sedated, for five to six hours.
